The perfect place for more space to work from, and relax at home. Located on a cul de sac in the Pleasant Brook Association, with a neighborhood pool, this expanded Mid-Century Modern Peacock Farm-style home as an attached two-car garage and mudroom, plus basement storage and living area. The main living area is a bit more expansive than others of the award-winning and pioneering Walter Pierce Peacock Farm design and the kitchen was bumped out with a significant addition. A screened porch is an enticing place to lounge or dine. The primary suite features a full bath. The entry level offers plenty of flexibility, with a suite of three rooms and a third full bath. Unlike the original Peacock Farm, this house features a walk-down basement, which has been partially finished, and a utility/storage area, with a high-end Buderus boiler for hot water baseboard heat. There are mini-split ductless AC units and most windows are insulated replacements. Great natural light and an ideal floor plans for lovers of the Modern style. Close to Wilson Farm, bike path, conservation, MBTA bus, and major routes. Minutes to Cambridge.
Optional pool membership dues for shareholders this year were $895. Anyone purchasing a house in the neighborhood is entitled to purchase a share and join immediately; the share purchase price is $750.
From the Lexington Historic survey of Pleasant Brook:
With the Peacock Farm house having been in construction since 1955, the homes built in Pleasant Brook from 1967 to 1970 were able to incorporate improvements to the original design, including a roughly 625 square foot full-height poured basement under the middle level of the house, instead of the crawlspace used in the original design. Additionally, the middle level living area of most of the homes is 3 feet longer measuring 26′ by 51′ in plan, as opposed to a total length of 48′ in the original design. The house design allowed for mirror-image versions of the plan, which enabled each house to be tailored to the siting and orientation on each lot, including the entrance to the house through a foyer on the lower level or on the middle level depending on the site characteristics.
