97 Lawson Road, Scituate. Offered at $369,000

Most of the properties we feature are our own listings and are located in the western suburbs of Boston. Every once in a while we spotlight a worthy listing outside of our coverage area, and this is a special one, custom-designed by the parents of the family selling this one-of-a-kind, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspred house on the South Shore. We are partnering with Richard Power and Peter Bailey of the William Raveis Scituate office. Contact them at (339) 793-0406 (Dick) or (781) 424-5639 (Peter).

As Dick writes:

“Clean Lines and Open Spaces” best describes this Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home. Designed and built by its original owners to capture the essence of classic mid-century design! Stacked bluestone exterior, copper-clad peninsula fireplace, California redwood paneling, block construction. Few South Shore homes combine the unique character, style, and design found here. Perfect for the discriminating buyer with the desire and vision to return this home to its original architectural prominence.

The house has three bedrooms, three full baths, with an en suite master bath, 1800 squre feet of living area, plus an additional 700 s.f. in the finished lower level. There are  three zones of heat and a two-car garage. The house is sited on a 21,519 square-foor lot.

Other details provided by the owner:

-Owner designed and built

-Started building in 1956 and completed in 1958

-Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright home designs (my parents’ favorite architect)

-Mother: Mary Bradley, graduate of Mass. School of Art in 1940

-Father: Pasquale Trifone, Bethlehem Steel Draftsman. Graduate of Fitchburg State College and a drafting instructor at Quincy Voc. Tech High School for 21 years

-Parents met at Bethlehem Steel designing tanker ships

-Mother was one of the first draftswomen at Bethlehem Steel and she did renderings of vessels for Aristotle Onassis

-Land was part of the Thomas Lawson Estate (Copper Magnate/Tycoon)

-Redwood paneling and beams throughout the home

-Blue stone from New York State (NY Blue Stone)

-6 feet of crushed stone under the foundation of the house

-Special drainage system trench dug around foundation with clay pipes for drainage to prevent any water from getting into foundation

-All steel beams for support and durability

A modern approach to real estate. Distinctive marketing for distinctive homes.

We are a top-producing real estate team in Lexington and work in all surrounding towns, averaging around $60 million in sales annually. We work as seller and buyer agents, marketing, showing, and selling all styles of houses and condos. The focus on this web site is to tell the story of the area’s mid-century modern/modernist heritage, which we have been doing regularly since around 2005. And we specialize in marketing this architecture, but our marketing and buyer services are top-notch for all homes, with decades of combined experience in Boston-area real estate.
